Blog 31 - Monday, February 2, 2015

There will only be one (1) blog this week! No school Friday.

If you could go back in time to experience a past decade, what decade would you go back to:
1950's?
1960's?
1970's? or
1980's?

Explain your reasoning.

  1. If I was able to go back in time, and I had to chose a decade to go into, i would honestly chose the 1990's. I would chose the 1990's because as for most of you should know, there was a terrible ice storm in 1998. You would probably think i'm crazy for wanting to do this, but I would want to do it because I love to study the weather. I think it is a very interesting topic. If I would do it, i would know right away as soon as the power was out, to head toward my cottage, because they had power the whole time. I would also be very prepared for the cold. I think who ever did live in it, should actually be happy because nothing like that will happen for another long time.

    1. I agree! Even though it was a dangerous event, it would've loved to have that experience. I find it the weather really interesting also.Amazing blog!!!:)

  2. The decade that I would want to go back to would most probably be the 1970’s, because it has a special passion to it. Their dances were joyful and energizing, their music was unique, and their clothes were bold and colorful. I felt like I would like the 70’s better just because it was more fun out of all of the others, it had a certain passion that made it special.

    2. The 70's were probably the best years to be born in

  3. If I could travel back in time, I would go to the 1960. Just by watching some of the projects we did during class, made me want to go and experience that time even more. They had great fashion, vehicles and dances, I would love to go back to that time and have a real experience. Also the Beatles were really popular during this decade, there were a lot of great movies and there were a lot of interesting toys. I would love to compare all of the things we have now to the things that came out during the 1960s.

    1. The 60's sounds so much fun. I would want to go and see all of the music and dances. Their fashion was so much fun.

    2. You are so right! The projects were super fantastic and with the temptation already their (from researching the information) it’s hard to resist to chose another decade other than the 60s! I can’t agree more with what you wrote! Your blog is perfect!

  4. If I could travel in time to go back to any decade in the 20th century, I would go back to the 1960's. I would go to the 80's because I would love to see the sports from back then. I would really like to see the hockey games from back then when the habs would dominate the NHL. I would be able to see the greatest hockey player of all time, Wayne Gretzky. Also, I could watch some great football games. Steve Young, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Bo Jackson, the greatest running back of all time. I could also see basketball games, Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player of all time. Also the sports back then were more rough and physical so hockey games would have more fights and hits. That's why I would go to the 80's out of any decade.

  5. If I had to go back to a decade it would probably be the 50s. I don’t know why but it just fits me the most. For example, the fashion is really cute and girly and I’m such a girly girl! I love wearing dresses and skirts because I find them so pretty! Also there were many celebrities I would like to meet that got famous in the 50s. There was Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Lucille Ball. Also the first McDonald franchise opened in the 50s and I love my happy meals. Though I would like to see how it was back then. This is why the 1950s is the best decade for me (besides this one)!

    1. McDonald would probably one of the greatest invention ever. Happy Meals are like my life, every time I go to McDonald's I always order a Happy Meal. And it will be sure great to see Elvis Presley. So that would be a great decade to live in

  6. If I could go back in time to experience one of these decades it would be the 1960’s. I would go back in time to the 1960’s because they had great fashion, cool cars, fun hairstyles and entertaining dances. One thing I adore about the 60’s is their sense of fashion. For women they were always wearing clothing with color. They barely ever wore any black. On many pictures you will see women in flashy colors. I also liked the hairstyles such as curls of Paris, afro, beehive etc. Some of them were nice and others were crazy. Also their dances and their music are much different. From our presentations the 1960’s sounds like an awesome decade.

  7. If I could choose to go back to any decade I would want to go to the 1970s. I would go back to the 1970s because that's the time when my parents grew up. I find it would be cool to go live and grow up in the time our parents frew up in. It would also be very different in a lot of ways. Different cars, no video games, different hairstyles, a complete different way of living. I think it would be pretty cool though.

  8. If I could go back to a decade of my choice I would go to the 70s. I would go there because that is the time when my parents where young so I could try and be friends with them. I could see many bands because rock was huge at that time and it would be cool to see. Also sports where interesting because the best player of all time for soccer played in that period of time.It would be cool to see what people looked like and if I could tell them about the future.

  9. If I could go back in time I would go back to the late 70's because that's the time when my parents were my age. I think it would be interesting because there were no iPhone's of good T.V. I know sounds horrible right? But just seeing what they would do all day and to see what kids those days were into, it would be really cool c

  10. If i were ever to go back in a previous era, it would definitely be the 1960's. I absolutely love women's fashion in this period of time! I found it to be a very colorful era and I especially love the dresses they wore! Seeing as I am a dancer, I also really liked the types of dances that originated in the 1960's. I also really liked the style of music made in the 60's and I find it very interesting how much the music has evolved from then! I think it would be such a fun experience to live the fantastic moments of the 60's!

  11. If I were to suddenly, mysteriously travel back in time, I would choose to go all the way back to the 1980s! I chose the 1980s because my mom is always listening to songs from the 80s on the radio and to be honest, it REALLY gets on my nerves because she's always singing and I have absolutely no clue on how she remembers all of those lyrics but whatever! I would really want to go back to the 80s because I could see how all of these "amazing" singers were back then! Since we are constantly listening to the 80s music, I though why not go back and see how it sounded live! I would also like to see one of my mom's all time favorite bands, Earth, Wind and Fire! She is always singing and blasting the music when they come on the radio while I'm just thinking that she is absolutely insane!!!

  12. If I were to go back in time, I would probably want to live in the 70's because then I would be older than both of my parents and I would know if they were actually the sweet kids they said they were. I would also want to live in the 70's because that was an era were things weren't too old or too modern. I would have also been able to listen to my favorite songs and I could have seen the artists live instead of hearing them on the radio. In overall, I think the 70's would be great year because I would have been able to see my parents growing up and see if they are telling the truth about themselves.

  13. Most likely the 50s! I’ve researched a bit about each era and I’ve decided that the 50s seems the most interesting! The thing that captured my attention about this decade, were the diners! You should look up the 50s and you will see some amazing checkered floor diners! They looked absolutely astonishing and so cheery! With all of those motivating places to go and have fun. it seems like it was a blast! Diners, were probably very popular since they should always have a jukebox in their! That’s another point too though! Judging from just the diner, it seems like everything back in the 50s must’ve been beyond imagination! With everything being super funky yet cool and bubbly, this decade must of been such a fun experience (for those who have experienced it)!

  14. I think that the 1980’s were great years to live in. There were a lot of great things like the inventions of the Rubix Cube, Pac Man and Michael Jackson’s video of “Thriller”. The best thing that happened in this decade that none of these decades is that there were no wars. You didn’t have to be afraid of a nuclear bomb falling on your head. I think that the more you go into the future the better it get’s so if I were to be able to choose the 1990’s or higher I would because everything will only get better.

  15. I think I would go back to the 1950's because everything was very different from now! Although I might not be able to live without my phone I think I would find a way to live without it. Also I wouldnt be able to play on the computer or xbox but there are a lot of other things to do like play outside! I think that the people that lived in the 1950's were probably a lot more social than our generation because there were less things to set them apart. On the other hand there were a lot less things helping people keep in touch because there was no internet!

  16. I think that I would like to live in the 1980's because when I think of the 50's and 60's I think of just after the war everything was cooling down. there was also the baby boom at the time and I would not want to have twelve siblings. I can barely handle one! Also the later the years means more technology. Even though I don't have a phone, I don't know what I would do without my Xbox. My dad is always singing songs from the 80's he said that the 80's had the best music.

  17. If I could go back in time I would go back to the 80's because my parents would have been more or less my age. I think it would be interesting to see how my parents lived and how they killed time because back then there was no such thing as an xbox or playstation. Instead they actually had to go outside and play. The technology back the was very different. They had computers that were bigger than my torso and tv's that took up the entire living room space.

  18. I would go back to the 60’s. After seeing all the interesting things that happened throughout the
years, it seems like a cool decade experience. The crazy hairstyles were popular then, so to be able to see them with my own eyes would be sick! There were also many different types of cars in the 60’s. I just want to get in one and test it! The 60’s seemed like such a fun decade to be in. It would be amazing if one day I could see how the world used to be, all those years back,

  19. If I could return to a past decade, for me that decade would be the 1970s.The 1970s is the decade I would choose since my parents both were born in 1966, and in 1970 they were probably about 5-14 years old. I want to see how their childhood was back then in Sri Lanka. My mother always tells me stories on how life was back there. She does not have any pictures of herself, hence, I want to see how she looked and dressed. I know here all we think about in technology, school and friends. However, back then, what would she do in her everyday life? Her father, was a farmer, she would help him in the fields every day. She would have to clean the house and help her mother. My mother has two younger brothers and one older sister. She always tells me how her parents would favor her oldest and youngest siblings over the two children who were born in the middle. She would tell me how her sister would boss her around and her brothers would bother her. I would like to see what my aunt and uncles did as children that annoyed her so much. My mother told me how her teachers would beat their students if they made a mistake, and so did her father. My father on the other hand was born in a family of seven, I want to see how his mother managed to run a family with seven children. My father was the youngest of that big family, I want to see what he would do as the the baby of the family. His family was very poor too, his father was an alcoholic and he lost his parents very young. I would like to learn some great things from his struggle. This is why I would like to visit the 1970

  20. If I had to go back in time to experience a past decade I would love to go to the 1950’s. In 1945 is when the WW2 finished so they were probably celebrating it like really crazy so I feel it would be nice to be part of all that excitement. Also that is when The Baby Boom happened. Unfortunately in my family I am the youngest, I have two annoying; older sibling but no younger ones. So if I was born in this era I would have a more probability of having younger siblings. Also in the 50`s they wore really big dresses and weird clothing , so I think it would be really funny to see all that. Even though the 1950`s seems like a great period of time to live in but nothing can be awesome as 2000`s and 2010`s.

  21. I would want to go back to the 1950s. I have watched movies about this decade and I found them very interesting and cool. I think that the poodle dresses the girls wore were really cute. I wouldn't were one today but if I were living in the 50s I would. Everything looks so fun in the 1950s, but I am sure there are a few flaws. Sometimes I hear songs from the 50s on the radio today. I prefer the songs that are on these days but the songs from the 50s are pretty good. They are so fun and up-beat. Also if I lived in the 50s I would be older than my parents, that would be kind of funny. The 1950s sound great but I am still happy that I am living in this decade!

Since we’re doing all these projects in class about the 6’s it seems really cool and fun. 3. I would also really like to go back and go to a drive-in movie theater because they seem really cool!!

If I could go back to any decade I would go back to the 70's. Why you might ask? Well first off, the Montreal Canadiens won 6 Stanley Cups that decade! And there were so many hockey legends who played for them in that decade like Guy Lafleur, Henri Richard, Guy Lapointe, Larry Robinson and so many more! I would definitely love to me them all! Besides hockey, there were many other famous people such as Elvis Presley, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Lee, John Travolta and many others! I feel like the 70's would be a good time to get my groove on!

  24. Personally I would go back to the 60's. It's not because of the project we did but because of the stories I've heard of that time period. Sure there was still black segregation but it's not like there isn't today even if it's on a lesser scale. I'd like to live through the time were you could buy like twelve pieces of candy for 50 cents, the hair styles were so radical and the clothes were really cool. I'd love to live in a time where I could still go to the United States without a pass port or were you able to go play outside for hours and there wasn't the distractions of technology. I know sounds crazy partly because I'm using technology to do this blog and partly because we are in this technology filled world but it's what I want so don't judge. I really would love to go back to the 60's.

  25. If I could go to any of these amazing decades I would have to go to the 1970’s. One of the main reasons I would go to the 70’s is because I would be in school with my mom and dad. That would give me the awesome opportunity to see what they were like as kids, it would be so exciting. I would also get to see all the greasers and socks if their still there after the 60’s. All of the pas decades have been exciting but the 70’s were very interesting for my family because my parents went to school.

I would also like to go to the 60s because we are reading the outsiders in class and by visiting the 1960s we get a better image of where the book takes place. The 60s was a very important decade with developing technology like the internet it would be cool to see how the internet worked in the 60s.

  27. I remember the time when I first saw somebody getting bullied in person. I was mixed between being completely shocked and not knowing what to do. It was like I wanted to talk but I couldn't! There was a whole gang of girls making fun of the sweetest, yet shyest girl in the school. They were discriminating her clothing, her accent and her face. After standing there in shock for a while, I decided to take a stand and go up to the gang of girls and tell them how I felt about the situation. I could to tell that they were embarrassed of themselves after I told them what was on my mind. After this event the girl thanked me several times and we began to get to know each other better! I'm really happy I took a stand and I know that if I were to ever see a problem like that I will not hesitate to react!
