I don’t have a curfew because if I decide to go to sleep at 1:00 then I still have to wake up at 6:00. Personally I think it depends on what kind of child it is, if they know that they are going to be mischievous, then they should have a curfew, if they know that they will not get into trouble then they have a right to not have a curfew, in conclusion I think it depends on the person.
My parents normally don’t give my sisters and I curfews. On school nights, we don’t have to be in bed at a certain time, we have to finish what we have to do, then we can go to bed. Also we play a lot of sports, all during different times so it wouldn’t be smart to give us a curfew that we wouldn't be able to follow when we have late night sports. On weekends it’s a different story. If we are going somewhere or hanging out with friends, my parents will tell us a certain time we need to be home at. I think that having a curfew isn’t that bad of an idea. If your child isn’t back at his/her curfew, you will know if they are in danger or not. Without having a curfew, the parents wouldn’t know if their children were in danger or where they are supposed to be.
I don't have a curfew but my parents do expect me to be in bed by a decent time. On school nights, I will go to bed around 9:30 because i'm REALLY grumpy in the morning but on the weekends, i'm free to go to sleep whenever I choose. Giving your child a curfew depends on the parents and their trust towards the child and the age of the child. Not giving your child a curfew will establish trust and will prove if you are able to trust your kid. Giving your child a curfew will be teaching them responsibility and schedules as they will have to be home by a certain time!
It has been awhile now that my parents have established a curfew for my sister and I. I personally don't think this is fair because I feel that it is my responsibility to have a proper judgement and to know when I should go to bed. Often times I will finish my homework late, and then have no time to relax and watch tv because it is "passed my bedtime". Personally, if I were the parent, I would give the liberty to my kids to decide what time they want to go to bed at so long as they don't over use the privilege.
My parents aren’t crazy strict in rules. They wouldn’t do what Darry did to Ponyboy to my brother and I. My parents have never really established a curfew and made it official. I go to bed at a regular time because I know if I go to late I’m going to be really tired! I also love my sleep and the most time I can get to sleeping more, I’ll take it! I get pretty cranky and grumpy if I don’t sleep well and I start to be mean, that’s why I try avoiding little sleep. Since on weekends we don’t have to wake up early, the rules we have are a little bit different. I don’t have to go to bed early and I can stay up as long as I’m not cranky. It’s also hard to say that I have a curfew because I can’t drive, so my parents would come and pick me up anyways.
I don't really have a curfew I guess. My dad says that I've got to be in bed by 9 the latest and asleep by 10 the latest since I've got to wake up pretty early. He doesn't really enforce it but when he does you know you've really got to do what he's telling you. My mom is a lot more lax with the curfew but it's the same general idea. Personally I do think teens should have a curfew. Now I know that's probably going to give me the label of bus kill or parent but I've got a valid reason. Does your mom or dad let you stay home alone, take care of your younger siblings, trust you with passwords that they won't share with any one else? Well that's because they trust you probably because you've shown them your responsible and have earned their respect. So naturally they will let you have more privileges and will trust you to make the right decisions. If they don't do anything from the previous sentences(or rant), then they trust you but won't allow you to do some things because they may think you're not "there" yet. So earn their trust and respect and enjoy the bliss of freedom. Or at least as much freedom as you're allowed. Lara
I kind of have a curfew, on weeknights I have to be in bed at 9:00, unless I have a hockey game and I come back at 9:30 or something like that. On weekends, they're a lot nicer, my bedtime/curfew is usually from 10:00 to 11:00. Depending on the night, I go to bed later. I honestly think it depends on the person, if the teenager is responsible and knows when to go to bed or when something bad is going to happen, then they don't need a curfew, if the kid is always taking risks and getting in trouble or always getting into bad situations, then yes, they'll need a curfew so they come home eventually. So if you ask me, it would depend on who the kid is. So it depends on the kids responsibility and maturity. Justin Pugsley
I think it is important to have a curfew because many parents want to keep their children safe but also happy. My parents have never established a curfew but when I’m with friends at sleepovers they want us to go to bed not too late. They want me to have fun but sleep so we won’t be grumpy in the morning. I think this is a good idea because they want the best for us. On a school night generally I go to sleep at 9:30. I think this is a pretty good time considering we need time for ourselves. On weekends I usually go to bed at 11:00 o'clock. Usually I’m really tired in the morning so I need my sleep. I think teenagers need curfews because if they don’t come home you know something happened. You also have to trust your daughter or son. If you were supposed to be home two hours ago and you're not home your parents will be very upset. It’s important to respect the decisions they make for you.
I think every should have a curfew because kids should be getting at least 8 hours of sleep. Sleep is a very important thing you need to get a lot of because that's what helps our body function. Waking up with 6 hours of sleep is not enough to school. You wouldn't be able to last 2 periods. So yes, kids should have a curfew. Teenagers should have a curfew because parents never know what they're kids are doing. They could've told you that they're at the library, but they could really be at a party. That why I think teenagers should be in their houses by 9.
I agree with you! Kids and teenagers should both have a curfew! All of the logic in your blog is fantastic! It was really interesting to read! Amazing blog!
I have a curfew of 9:00 to 9:30. It all depends on if I have sports or not. I usually go to bed later because of my sports. I think that if you are responsible enough to be able to know when to go to bed then you shouldn't have a curfew. But on the other hand if you just break the rules all the time then I think that parents should have a curfew. I think it just depends on the person. Although, parents should give teenagers some liberty. I think the curfew should be in between 9:00 and 10:00.
I don’t exactly have a curfew CURFEW but, my parents do want me to be in bed no later then 10 or 9. I guess it’s because my parents know I have a lot of homework and things to do so they don’t want to establish a official one. I think though, that teenagers should have a curfew that isn’t very strict. Like, parents should expect their kid to be in bed at (let’s say) 9:30 but if their kid has a lot of homework and things to do, they should expect their kid to be in bed by 10. Curfews are meant to be given to keep your kid safe however it’s really up to what the parent thinks. If the kid is always fooling around all the time and at night, then it should be safe to say that they deserve a curfew. But, like I said before, I think that it’s all about time management (since maybe your kid has an activity) and if you trust them or not. Basically curfews are always different for everyone and it’s generally always up to the parent to decide.
My parents have given me curfews if I go out to the park to see one of my friends and I went around dinner time. In my opinion teenagers should have curfews because you never know what kind of trouble they will/can get into. If I had a kid I could trust I would probably not make them such an early curfew but they would have a curfew. Abby
My parents haven't given me curfew yet. I think it's up to the parents to decide if their kids should have curfews. Because it depends on how their children behave if they think that they might cause trouble outside of the house maybe they should give their kids curfews. We all know some teenagers go to parties and stuff right? Parents probably know their kid enough to know what they might do at those parties. They might drink, fight or anything. It really depends on what parents think or maybe even some teens would like to have a curfew, but they probably wouldn't.
My parents have established a curfew for my sister and I. I’m usually the one who obeys it though. The curfew we have is ten o’clock. My parents say that we shouldn’t be on our phones after that, and my dad made it possible that our wifi shuts off automatically at that time. I’m in bed at around 9,9:30 but it really depends on the day of the week. On weekends, my parents still say we should be in bed by ten with the wifi off, but my sister sometimes just turns it right back on! I think teenagers should have curfews because it is important to know that you won’t win in everything in life. If you have to be home at a certain time, a curfew is good to remind the teen. Julia Daniele
My parents have never given me a curfew. Probably because I don't go out on my own at night. I don't go to parties or hang out with friends at night. I like to go out during the day. When I do go go out with my friends it is usually just for a few hours but not the whole day. I think that teenagers who go out at night should have a curfew. Especially on a school night. I don't think any parent wants their child coming home late like around midnight, especially when they have to go to school and concentrate. I guess as you get older and go out more parents start giving their kids curfews. -Erin
I personally do have a curfew. My curfew is 9:30 on week days and 10:00 on weekends. I think that teens should have curfews. Most teens think they are "cool" for going to bed to late. When you wake up in the morning, and you think, for some reason you are really tired. That's when you know for sure that you went to bed too late. Most people would refuse that they went to bed too late, but in reality they did. This is why parents should give they're kids curfews.
My parents have always been very vague on curfews. When I’m all ready at home I go to bed at pretty normal times but I’m never really staying outside of the house. When I’m not coming home it’s usually because I’m sleeping at someone else’s house. If they want me back they can just text me so that they can know were I am. I don’t think that many people have curfews as before because are parents can always know were we are.
My parents don't really have a curfew for me, mainly because if I do sleep late, it will affect me, not my parents. My parents (mainly my mom) usually know where I am always at, and they know that I'm not the type of kid that sneaks out at night.(even though I have a huge window in my room.) They also don't have a curfew because as I'm getting older, I'm getting lazier which causes me to sleep earlier and much easier.
I have never had a curfew and I don’t think that teenagers need to have one. First of all teenagers should be able to know when they have to go to bed, they are definitely old enough. Second of all if they don’t go to bed early enough their parents should tell them that it is time to hit the hay. If they do not listen, then in that case maybe the parent should give them a curfew. In the Outsiders, maybe Ponyboy should have one because it is not a safe neighbor hood, he could get jumped or even killed. -Adrian Szekely

I believe it depends for each teenager. If you are a teenager who never listens to your parents and who has like a very bad reputation then they should have curfew. If you believe that they are responsible enough to make right decisions and you trust them than they do not need curfew. For instance I do not have curfew but I also barely go out with friends at night it is usually at daytime. It also depends on the society they live in and it depends who are their friends. If you live in a neighborhood where you get mugged every time you go out and your best friend is a guy who went to juvenile five times then I think they should have a curfew. -Madurra.S
Trevor Lafave I do not have a curfew nor need one. Usually if im at a friends house at night I get tired and go home. I think that certain teenagers need one and others dont.
