I highly recommend that you go OUTSIDE the BOX! Be creative and write about something you feel important or something you would like to tell your audience.
You must remember your audience. It is not simply me (Mr. Katz) reading this blog!
If you will be ranting about a certain individual, you need to leave their name out of this. You could give them a pseudonym or simply leave their name as anonymous.
Make sure your language is appropriate. Do not go on swearing tangents.
Have a GREAT SPRING BREAK!
Since this blog is free choice, I decided to talk about what I am going to be doing on spring break! My spring break starts out with me relaxing and sleeping in just because I never get to do that, then around mid-week, we are going to go tubing up north, and to end the break, finish the projects that are due in the upcoming days.

ReplyDeleteI’ve been waiting for another free choice blog so that I could blog about QUESTIONS. Have you ever wondered how humans have come to the idea of questions? How did we come up with a question mark? Why different punctuations? How did we come to the expression of a question? Why don’t we ask questions like stating a statement? Where did questions originate from? Everyone has so many questions but we never really wonder about where questions have come from. Maybe this is indeed a silly QUESTION but I felt like this was something fun to blog about. Questions can even be formed with just adding a question mark to your end sentence?. There are so many types of questions too. Scary questions, funny questions, sarcastic questions, happy questions, confusing questions, etc. I find that questions are important. Since questions were probably made so that we could understand better.
ReplyDeleteI love random blogs like this!!!!! They are so fun to read!!!!!
DeleteMY MIND IS BLOWN! How are you so creative!?!?! Ha! That was a question. Anyways, I am so fascinated at your blog! Good job!!
DeleteSince this week's blog is a free choice, I'm going to talk about how my dad can't play any sports that involves his head moving. My dad can't play any sports any more because he got seven concussions. He got most of them playing hockey. Once he literally got knocked out on the ice because while he was doing a face-off another guys knee went up and hit his head. He's even gotten one at one of my practices when I was young. Another time was his first concussion when at summer camp my dad and his friends were having a pillow fight in the dark and my dad ran into another kid.
ReplyDeleteWow! That seems dangerous! And pretty funny. No offense. Good job for your dad though for going through all that!
DeleteFor this free choice blog, I thought I would talk about some things in life that make no sense! Many things in life make absolutely no sense. Like why are pizza boxes square, pizzas are round and slices are triangular? Also why does the space bar always make more noise than all of the other keys??? Why is it called a pair of pants when their is only one!!!!! Why is there no egg in EGGplant, no ham in HAMburger and no apple in pineAPPLE?!?!?!?!?! Why do people say "Can I ask you a question?". It's not like you have a choice they already have! If man evolved from apes and monkeys, then why do we still have apes and monkeys??? Why do we call this planet earth if it's 90% water? What was the point of learning cursive? We spent so much time in school learning it but it's completely useless!!! Technology is already taking over so why do we need to write more fancy??? WHY DOES THIS WORLD MAKE NO SENSE SOMETIMES?????? (Hehehe that was really fun to write!!! (: )
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so EPIC! I loved reading it and I would read it over and over again! LOVE the topic!
DeleteYour blog is super funny and an awesome topic!
DeleteHahaha funny blog! LOL
DeleteWow! Once again my mind has exploded! How do you think of these topics!? When you said the space bar thing, I actually tried it! I pressed the space bar! Your blog really made me thing hard!
DeleteSince it's free choice, I will talk about what I'm doing over March break. I will start off relaxing and sleeping in and playing video games, I might go the ODR on the weekend, I might. This sunday I'm going to Stoe, Vermont to stay at my cousins cottage to go skiing. We come back on Wednesday or Tuesday night. Then I just relax and play video games and do whatever I want the rest of the vacation. But on the friday, my friend and I go do a snowboarding lesson for a bit then snowboard for the first time and see if we like it. That's my March break.
ReplyDeleteSince this week is free choice, I thought I talk about what I would be putting on my friends locker for her birthday! I cannot say who this person is just incase they are reading this! But after lots of thinking, I decided what I would place onto the metal piece. I’ll probably end up just going crazy by putting some huge “Happy Birthday!” signs with some ribbon and confetti. Not only that, I’ll make a collage of all of our fun adventures through pictures. Also, we share lots of inside jokes together so I’ll be sure to add some of those there too. I think it’s really fun coming to school with a decorated locker. Your birthday is supposed to be a happy day so why not start it off by seeing your locker decorated when you step into your hallway? That way, you’ll know for sure that it’s yours and you're not accidentally trying to open your locker neighbors instead of yours! (speaking from experience!)
ReplyDeleteJulia Daniele
That seems like a lot of fun! I think I know who's locker your gonna decorate,do you mind if I join? :)
DeleteHaha! I don't have that problem. I don't have anyone next to me. I know my lock because its the last one next to a garbage can!
DeleteSince this blog is free choice, I'm going to do exactly what you said, Mr. Katz. I'm going to write a blog/rant about a topic that is so out of the box, that you might think I'm kinda crazy. I'm going to blog about the PRO'S and CON'S about using technology in class. Before I begin I just want to say that at my old school I was a part of a pilot project with iPads.
ReplyDeleteThe PRO'S and CON'S of using technology in class:
PRO: Your work can get ripped, eaten or lost
CON: If you don't save your work you may lose progress or your work completely
PRO: It makes researching sooooo much easier
CON: You could get side tracked
PRO: You could still do work at home if you forget the paper version at school/home
CON: Because of auto-correct kids these days can't always spell properly (myself included)
PRO: You can listen to whatever music you want
PRO: Watch whatever you want- whenever you want
Well I guess there's mostly PRO'S, but there are sill some Con's

Since spring break is coming up and most of my friends are fortunate enough to go on vacation, but since my dad got a new job and my mom can't really take any days off. I'm just going to take care of my sister for a week. Yaaaay me. Also, with my friends that didn't go away, I'm probably just going to hang out with them. I'm also going to do some homework since I got to take advantage of my time off. I definitely think the week will go by slow, but it will turn out to go fast. Everyone have a great spring break
ReplyDeleteEvery day after school, I like to come home and relax. I grab my iPad and a snack (or a few)! Then I usually go on YouTube and watch my favorite Youtubers. I love Youtubers because they can teach you a lot! I’m more interested in the fashion, beauty and DIY videos. My two favorites in this category are Bethany Mota and Zoella. Bethany has many interesting and creative videos. She likes to do a lot of DIYs and many activities that match for the season. She has over eight million subscribers, but that’s because her personality is just so lovable and upbeat. Zoella focuses more on beauty and fashion videos. She gives really cute makeup and hairstyle tutorials that are very easy to follow. I also really like watching her collaborations, because she usually does really funny challenges. With her British accent and cute personality, no wonder she has so many subscribers! These are the reasons why I love to watch their videos every week!
ReplyDeleteI love youtube too!! Bethany Mota is one of my favourites, she is really creative and energetic and it's always really fun watching her Youtube videos! Great blog:))
DeleteI would love to talk about my spring break activities but instead I want to talk about pets. I don’t have a pet and I wouldn’t mind having one either. All my siblings (especially my little sister) want one to. The problems are my parents. My dad had a dog when he was younger and he has so many stories about the dog pooping every day and having to walk it in the freezing cold. My mom for no exact reason just hates pets. So we can’t get a dog, cat not even a little hamster but we can have fish so we used that to our advantage. We have a huge fish full of snails, gold fish even shrimp! As soon as I can I am buying some kind of pet.
ReplyDeleteSince this blog is free choice, I've decided to write about something that's been on my mind for a long time... If you could invent one candy, what would it be? I know that it's really random, but I've been thinking about it for a while and I know the perfect candy!!! It's called... forget-yet. Basically, what this candy does, is it makes the person eating the candy have the ability to erase the mind of the person of their choice. When you use it on a person they will only forget the last 10 minutes that occurred before the power was used. I think this candy will definitely be useful for many situations. For example, if you accidentally say something rude to someone and you wish that you hadn't done it, eat a forget-yet. Or if the teacher calls on you during class and you say the wrong answer, eat a forget-yet. I hope other people like my invention...if only it exist!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great invention!!! I would use the candy if a needed to get something off my mind. That is an amazing piece of candy!! Great Blog Maya:)
DeleteFor my free blog I’m going to talk about a song that’s been on my mind. The song’s name is Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars. This song has been my favorite song this month. The beat is fun and catchy. I can’t get it off my mind and whenever I hear it in the car or on the radio I immediately start singing it. Usually I turn up the radio while were driving and start yelling. My parents and my sister get annoyed when I start screaming the song while we’re driving. I could listen to this song any day of the week and any minute of the day. This is the best song ever!!!
ReplyDeleteI decided for this free blog I’d rant about probably my biggest pet peeve!!!! My biggest pet peeve is when equestrians do not keep their hells down. It irritates me because it is pretty much the number one rule in equitation!!!! Like do you not know how to equitate? It bugs me even more at shows because your coach should take the time to teach you how to keep them down and if everyone in the class your in has really good heels and yours all the way up in your stirrup, you’re wasting 100-500$ down the drain. I’m not really sure why it bugs me but it does.

Since this blog is free choice. I decided to talk about my spring break. Usually my family goes out on vacation to a tropical place, like Turks and Caicos, but this year, I will be staying home because my dad still has work. On Monday, my cousins are coming over and we are going to have a house party with all of my friends and my parents' friends. For the rest of the week, I will be babysitting, watching Bethany Mota on youtube, and sleeping in till 12 in the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a really fun spring break. I'm not going anywhere either. Great blog!

For this blog I will be talking about my favorite food. Popcorn. It is so delicious and buttery. I love it! I have popcorn almost everyday after school. I have popcorn in my cupboards all the time. I like the pop-up bowls for popcorn. It is so much easier, you just stick the bag in the microwave and just eat it in that bag/bowl. My favorite popcorn brand is Orville Redenbacer. I don't what I would do without popcorn. I am always craving it.
ReplyDelete-Erin
I love popcorn too! I can't resist it! And it's not like it's bad for you, it depends on the type of popcorn. Great blog Erin!

For this blog, I will be talking about my favorite shoes! I have three main brands that I like the most are: UGGs, TOMS, and Converse. UGGs are stylish, however not fancy and diva-like. They are not ugly either. The are simple. UUGs are warm and pretty waterproof. However, the thing that bothers me is that UGGs are made of sheep skin ( it might also be suede, however I know sheep have to do something with the making of these boots) . It hurts when you find out that people are killing animals just for you to have a stylish pair of boots! However this year I got fake UGGs, that look super real, from Yellow. UGGs make you look like a fashionable and simple person, until people find out the price( almost 250$!). I love TOMS so much because I love flats. Sometimes, I find flats a little girly. I am not a very girly person. TOMS are just like flats, however less girly! I feel like they go with everything perfectly, just like flats! Basically they are a cool and less girly type of flats. I have one fake pair from Stitches, they are grey with purple flowers. TOMS give a cool and a simple look to anything you wear. They are my type, cool and not very girly. Converse are so awesome! They are comfortable, casual, cool, not very girly, they are good for gym, and they go with everything! I like high-top Converse the most! I have three pairs: one magenta from grade five, one green from grade six, and one neon purple form this year. Converse are the same for guys and girls, so you do not feel like you are wearing guy shoes, since many girls wear it too. Converse give a clean look to anything you wear. I feel like Converse make you look like a sophisticated person . The problem with me is whenever I buy a nice pair of shoes I don't want to wear them because I am scared that I will get them dirty! My mom always yells at me to wear the shoes I buy. I will start crying if something happens to my shoes! So basically I am very serious when it comes to even the simplest of things, such as my shoes. I hope I get a new pair of Converse and TOMS soon, so that I can wear them to school for the summer.
ReplyDeleteThat was 407 words!
DeleteI love all those shoes too! Lol

ReplyDeleteIn my house I have a pet lizard, her name is Alex (or Alexandra). It's not really my pet (I really don't like lizard), it's my brother's. He was begging my parents for one for such a long time, and he finally got one. After about 6 months or a year he stopped taking care of it. Now it's me and my parents who reminds him to feed, wash it, turn on her lights shut down her lights. I would much rather have a gecko then a lizard if I had the chance. Lizard are so gross and stuff. When the lizard poops it has a sound effect to it, it's really disgusting. I used to be afraid of it I still am, but it's getting better (haha). But I feel bad for her. she looks so sad she only changes positions like every hour or so. Either sitting on a rock or by the glass. It's been three years since we've had her. She doesn't really bother me.
Because this is a free blog I have decided to talk about my soccer tryouts. So every month I have a tryout and it is a little scary because if I don't make the team then it is embarrassing. But I feel a lot of confidence have been gone in myself, why because I am creating chances, scoring goals and getting into open space. Since my parents tend to work a lot they don't really have the take me to practices, so when I am there I try and give it my best.

For this blog I will be talking about migraines. I'm someone who gets migraine headaches very easily. Some types of food can give me migraines, like for example garlic. Smells can also be something that can give me a migraine. When I walk around people who are wearing perfume, if it's really strong, I can get really bad migraines. Weather changes also give me migraines. When I get a migraine I usually feel rally tired and nauseated. I also get a lot of pain in my head. When I get a migraine I can't considerate and I am not aloud to look at computer screens or TV screens. I have also been told not to read. The doctors have told me to do nothing. It is very difficult because I have a lot of assignments for school, and I have gymnastics, and when I get a migraine I can't do what I am supposed to do. I am told to do nothing. BORING!!

Sorry for the late blog!
I absolutely adore Spring! For me, it's one of the most alive times of the year. Especially in a country like Canada, where winter is the longest season of the year, it is very refreshing to know that Spring has finally come. I love the chirping sound of birds returning home and the weather beginning to become more warm. Personally, it is a very big relief to now that this season has returned. I especially love this season for its amazing holidays and celebrations. I really enjoy celebrating Easter with my family as well as my birthday! Over all I really enjoy all the great things that come with this very special season!
