I thought the play was very well done! There were some very funny parts in the play, and some very odd and scary parts. The characters were very into it and you can tell that they tried their best to make it fun for us. I hope that we get to see them next year again, and see what kind of stuff they have prepared for the New Year! Thanks Mr.Katz!
I really enjoyed the play the "MSTC"performed for us. I enjoyed the way they combined modern day English language and music to an old and classical play. If this play wasn't turned into a modern comedy, it wouldn't have been as enjoyable. I especially loved the way the characters stuck to their characters throughout the entire play! The lights and sound effects as well as music were very well chosen! Overall, it was a great performance and I look forward to seeing more of these plays!
The Shakespeare play was unlike any other play I've seen. It told the story really well, but at the same time it added funny scenes and emotion. Shakespeare novels are incredibly hard to understand, but I totally understood the whole story and to me it was hilarious. What made it so hilarious was how they put it in modern day "language". There were a lot great moments and the time flew by so fast. The actors did a great job at their part and the lighting and background was fantastic.
The Shakespeare play was very different then the other plays I've seen (witch isn't that many). The characters seemed very into their roles and the music and lighting kept it entertaining. I think that I understood the play better because it was in modern English and not the old English. It kept me entertained for almost the whole play but some times I found myself looking at my watch to see how much time was left. I also liked that they were using the modern type of slang like gi etc. Overall I think I liked the play even if I didn't get some of the parts.

I especially enjoyed how they incorporated modern songs into the play which made it more amusing. I also enjoyed that they used modern English instead of old English. With modern English I understood the play much easier and I was having fun because the comedy was hilarious. I also liked the characters because they were having fun when they were on stage. Overall I think the play was very well done and the actors and actresses did a great job.

Watching the Shakespeare play was an experience I hadn’t seen before. I’m used to seeing plays at school but this one was very interesting. I really enjoyed how they interacted with the audience. For example, they asked questions and they even brought up a student to join in the play! I find when a play interacts with the audience; it makes it much more enjoyable to watch, so it was great that they chose to do that. Another plus to the show, was that they mixed some modern songs into it. I thought the songs made it funnier to watch since I was actually able to recognize some of the songs. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was how the story was confusing for me. It’s probably that the character switched back and forth that got me really confused. Either than that I really enjoyed the play and thought it was very interesting! I hope we can see more plays in the next few years, thanks Mr.Katz for organizing these fun stuff!
To be honest I thought the play was funny and fun. It was really well done and good. It was a Shakespeare play so I didn't think that I would like it too much. I liked how they modified the plays into modern reality so we would understand and like it better. Singing frozen and making references to real life things such as McDonalds etc.... . The play was good and my favourite part was when they came into the audience and brought Sean onstage. A lot of people seemed to have not enjoyed the play. I, on the other hand enjoyed it and found it funny. It was certainly better than being stuck in math and history class! I really liked the fact that they interacted with the crowd and took a volunteer. They were always in the crowd. They put a funny twist on a classic Shakespear play and made it easier to understand and a lot funnier!
I found that the play was very funny, and many people that I know seemed to enjoy it. I am so glad that they changed it fro old English to modern English. Although after a while I felt like they kind of lost my attention because it was so long. I liked how for me this play wasn't a classic Shakespear play. I thought it was a good play. I liked how they made it more modern and translated the play from Shakespearien to modern day English. At some points I was very surprised that the actors didn't laugh because it was funny. I also liked how they were involved with us, like how they were talking to us and they even brought someone up onto the stage, which I thought was really cool.
I really enjoyed the play I thought it was funny and really liked how enthusiastic the actors were But if you think about it, it’s not really funny or nice. It’s the story about how a man and his daughter is kicked out of there home and put on a raft to nowhere. For days they ate cats until they found an island that they stayed on for 12 years. there he encountered a witch that held a spirit captive and when he killed the witch he enslaved her son and use the spirit for his own needs. and then finally when a ship carrying the people that sent him away came around the island he created a storm to crash them and then tries to find ways to get revenge and show them how much pain they caused him. But the way they portrait it was funny and the ending was still really nice.
I really found the play interesting. It was cool how they were able to reference (it is more like to support the story) songs to now days. It is nice how a story that was written in the 16th -17th century can be referenced to song in the 21st century. Also changing the words into modern English was a great idea. I understand nothing in old English. When we read the midsummer night’s dream I understood nothing we read, I only understood somewhat because Mr.Katz explained it after every page. I loved how they interacted with the students. This kept us entertained, usually now matter how interesting a show is sitting in a seat for two hours will become very tiring. So for this they made the cast come off stage and into the audience. For instance Caliban came running into the crowd jumping everywhere which made us all excited to see what he is going to do. I think the play was good. It got a little boring when the woman in orange and the man in pink came. I don't know why, they were not as entertaining as the other characters. However, even if it is easier to understand, I think it would have been fun if the play was in Shakespearean. I have never seen an actual Shakespeare play. Thus, I would have liked it if it was in Shakespearean because it would have been a whole new experience. Now it just seems like an everyday play. The Shakespearean would have made it pretty special. When the characters interacted with us, it made the play more entertaining and the way they related the play with today's modern life was what made the play funny. Overall, I think the play was good , however could have been better.
I think it was a good play. The actors were really good, and the back drops were nice too. I like how they brought modern things from today into the play. Like the music and their comments. There were also some really funny parts and I really liked that. But the only thing I didn't like was the storyline. Though it was interesting how they had a lot of different conflicts going on but they all kind of tied together in the ending. It was a very different play but it wasn't terrible and I still enjoyed it. And I would love to see another Shakespeare play by Montreal Shakespeare company. -Erin
It was absolutely amazing! The lights, sounds, actors, they were all so great and they played their parts fantastically! I think the play is incredibly good since, they actually made the play enjoyable and fun! They took in volunteers from the crowd and I think that that was my favourite part! Gaining the crowds attention from these simple acts boosted up my ratings for the show from, okay to awesome! Their acting was amazingly well and the modern songs brought into the play was great also. To top it all off, I think that the play was executed perfectly and assembled greatly! ~ Emily Keophila
The Tempest was an ok play. It did a lot of cool stuff like make some funny jokes but I find it was a little boring. Some parts were exiting but some other parts were a bit dull. I think I would have liked it more if I already knew what it was talking about. If they would have done a play like Romeo and Juliette I think I would have like it more. I was relived when I heard them talking in modern times because I wouldn’t have understood anything if it was in Shakespearian. I also really like the actors. They were funny and dynamic and I did learn about a new play.
I thought that the play was very well done and most of the actors played their parts amazingly. I liked all the characters, especially the barbaric boy who they called a “monster”. The one thing that I didn’t really like was the story. I didn’t really understand what was going on, but maybe it was just a complex story that they tried to fit into two hours. The Shakespeare play was very different from any other plays I’ve seen/watched and I enjoyed that! At some parts it could get a little drowsy, but then the actors would say something funny so I become interested again! I also liked how they chose to interact with the audience, it was cool to see students on stage. To make it fun, they added popular songs that we know and could sing along too if we want. At some times, it could’ve gotten a bit confusing on what was going on, but it didn’t take me that long to get back on track. I really like the play I specifically liked how they connected the play with modern time I found it very interesting . I also though that the characters were hilarious. I liked the story it was very interesting. I really like how they got off stage and chose certain students to go on stage. I really though the play was great overall. To be honest, I don't really like Shakespeare. I thought the play was going to be horrible. I was surprised. I actually liked it a little. I think I liked it because it was a more modern day version, and some added humour. My favourite actor was the guy who always yelled "DISCIPLINE!". He played three roles and was good in all three of them.
When I first heard that their was going to be a play I thought it was going to be a waste of time, but after 5 minutes of watching I really started to connect with this story. The play was very funny at some moments. I never really liked Shakespeare but now that I have seen a play written by him I realised that it was a great time for the people who lived at the time of Shakespeare. Not many people can understand Shakespeare writing but for the first time I understood everything. Matt Colpron
It was funny enough. It was also cool that they had a modern spin on it but it wasn't really what I was expecting. I really wanted to see a play in Shakespearean. It wasn't my favorite play but I won't say I didn't find it amusing. I liked it but not as much as if it had some olden twist to it. I have to say, my favorite parts were when they started talking about frozen. When the young couple wanted to sing that song an the father stopped them until the end I found it very funny. Or the time when the wizard said that he'd "Let it go" and the song started paying then stopped and tried playing a couple of other times. I understood the play enough to understand most of what was happening but not enough. I find it was kind of confusing and some of the modern spins made it more so. Lara
