This week is Digital Citizenship Week.
An important part of my English class is to make you aware of what you post on-line and what it means to be a good digital citizen. Being a good digital citizen includes:
- being aware of your digital footprints;
- demonstrating safe and respectful online etiquette;
- not cyberbullying, sexting, or posting inappropriate photos and/or videos,
- making important decisions about what to post to social media sites; and,
- not downloading or uploading inappropriate content
For this blog, I would like you to CREATE an important Digital Citizenship message using MEMES!
A meme in a generic message about a behaviour that is passed around on-line.
Using memegenerator.net or makeameme.org you will have to create a MEME about being a GOOD Digital Citizen. You could share or e-mail me (gkatz@lbpearson.ca) the meme and then post your explanation about the meme on the blog site.
Have Fun!
I chose the one that I chose because it was really cute, it paired well with what I was going to say, and I find that it was really different and I liked that. I chose the one with the cat in like the bath with his eyes really wide, and I wrote something which I’m not going to say because it sucked.
ReplyDeleteI saw that picture! It really was cute!
Delete-Giuliana G.
That cat is so funny. I am sure your meme was fine.
DeleteThe reason why I chose to right my meme about posting either a video or a photo of someone without the persons consent is because I think it is a really important. I have to say, that it really bothers me when people do so. I think that everybody has the right to know what other people are posting of them. I personally think that everybody should be able to decide wether or not they want a video or picture to be posted on the internet of them.
ReplyDeleteGiuliana Giannini
YES!!! that bothers me so much. Sometimes I make a funny face just for fun or I just look super bad in pics. But then my friends sometimes send it to other people and it's a bit annoying....
DeleteI did the meme with a grandma looking closer to the computer screen. It was about how she was trying to find out who posted an inappropriate picture. We should always watch what we post online because even though we delete a comment or a picture it’s still always there. Even though we delete it’s not actually gone. So we really should be careful. Also even though you just show it to your friends as a joke, someone you don’t think will see it, maybe can like even your ……grandma!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a really awesome meme!!!
DeleteI totally agree. Sometimes we don't even realize what we are posting and don't take it in consideration that even if we delete something it will always be there. Amazing blog:)
DeleteFor my meme, I chose to use the grumpy cat. I chose that picture because it was really cute and I also went with what I wanted to say with the meme. The cat was suppost to be looking at a computer and saying that someone expressing themselves assertively is the same thing as cyber-bullying. The grumpy cat is not only cute but I really makes a statement about bullying. Just be careful about what you post or you cat might even see it!
ReplyDeleteThe meme I choose was the one from hell’s kitchen. He is screaming at a lady and over that I wrote: “WHAT ARE YOU DOING? YOU CAN’T LOOK AT THAT!” It shows that we should be aware of what we are looking up and/or what we are looking at. Your mom, you dad, your brother, your sister, anyone has the right to look at what your looking up. If it’s not bad then who cares! Our parents know that if we are up to something, we try to shoo them away all the time. If we don’t care and are on the computer casually, they know nothings up. We should be careful of what we post/do online because it’s always going to be there, even if you try to delete it.

My meme is about a girl who is upset because someone posted a pick of her that she didn't give them permission to post. Part of being a "Digital Citizen" is that you need permission to post anything that isn't yours to post. If the image is of someone else or something else that is not yours then you don't have the right to post them if you don't have the owners consent.
ReplyDeleteLara
Being a digital citizen is very important. Good blog Lara!
DeleteMy meme is used with the godfather baby with himself having a picture posted of him without having permission. It's him having a demanding face and his finger pointing down trying to get them to remove the embarrassing photo of him. It's trying to say that you need to have the persons permission to post it if it's embarrassing but if it isn't embarrassing and you're just hanging out or it's a team photo, you shouldn't need to ask someone for their permission. So the moral is if it's humiliating and you feel the need to ask them, just delete the photo from your phone
ReplyDeleteJustin Pugsley
That is true.
DeleteMy meme is used with a Spider Man in hospital and he is hurt and what he is saying is that if you say the wrong things on the internet you could get hurt from cyber bulling or if you say too much personal stuff you can get hurt physically. I think not saying too much is one of the most important things about being a good digital citizen because you can actually get really hurt by saying something you didn't really want to say or hurt someone else.
ReplyDeleteCameron Hubscher
My meme said: when I post inappropriate pictures I make sure there private. I picked that meme because whatever you post online is never private! People get payed to hack peoples Facebook and twitter accounts. They can also find out your history and what you've been on and looked at. So next time you want Google something you probably shouldn't, always think twice. You never know who might find out what you've been looking at.
ReplyDeleteI did my meme on bad luck Brian getting cyber bullied. It show’s that he is new to the Internet but he still get’s bullied. This means that all digital citizen should not do this because poor unlucky Brian did nothing wrong. Even if it’s just saying something like: “You’re stupid” or “ you look ugly in that pic lol” it could still make them fell bad. It could also make them question about posting that picture or comment even if it was perfectly fine. If the post was inappropriate then you could always just flag it or report it, you don’t have to be mean.
ReplyDelete+Jacob Vallee+
I agree with you! With one single post it could hurt the person's feelings real bad. You should definitely watch out for what you post cause on the internet if you write a joke, you can't hear the emotion in the person's comment so you never know if the person meant it as a joke or if it wasn't. Even if they write just kidding they might actually mean it. I also agree with you on the fact that we can just report it or flag it if it's inappropriate! You don't have to make a big scene about it, right? All in all, your blog was spot on for what digital citizen's should know about!
DeleteIn my meme I chose the squirrel with his arms in the air. I decided to choose this meme because it represented what I had to say. In my meme I talk about not being able to delete mean comments. Digital citizenship especially talks about not posting mean pictures and/or mean comments, in other words cyberbullying. Some people are to scared to say something mean to the person's face, so they decide to do it on social media. Which is a terrible way of talking to somebody in a mean way. On the internet, everybody can see what you write and you will never be able to delete it. When you push send, you can't go back. Always think twice before posting or commenting something!
ReplyDeleteIn my picture I did annoyed picard it fits they subject perfectly because
ReplyDeleteThe picture i picture i choose was annoyed picard because you can say what you want in that picture it fits so in my picture i said why did you post that nude with him angry and annoyed because it seems like hes seen enough of it And wants them to
ReplyDeleteStop what they are doing because he is now annoyed of it(sorry about both 2 parts ipad frooze)
ReplyDeleteThe meme I chose is a dog pulling away from a computer completely shocked at what was posted. Being a digital citizen means you watch out for what you post and you make sure you don't post inappropriate things. You watch out for what you write or type and you make sure it's appropriate. Your polite and you make sure you have permission to post something if it's a picture with your friend or something. Being a digital citizen means a lot of things. However sometimes we forgot our manners and we just post it without someone's consent. It's fine if you forgot sometimes but always remember whatever you post or write online, it's NEVER private. All we have to think about is that whenever something is posted or you post something, when you decide to take it down and it says 0 views, it doesn't necessarily mean no one saw it. Just be paranoid when you post things. The easiest way to solve problems. I guess....

ReplyDeleteI chose the meme with the guy from Star Trek because it made me think of how someone would react to what you posted. They could why, what, how and sit there and wonder. If you post something inappropriate in can come and kick you later on in life when you go to apply for a job or in school. Don't bully,be mean, or any inappropriate things online. So next time think about what you post before you do it.
My meme says "so you're telling me people on Facebook actually post where they are". I made this meme because if you posted for example " In Florida until Friday. Having a blast!", someone could just say "okay so this person is gone until Friday, that means I have time to go and rob their house" or something like that. Someone could easily know exactly where you are almost every minute of your life. It's not the smartest thing to do, plus it's not important to do it either.
ReplyDeleteYa that is not a good idea.I agree with you
DeleteA good digital citizen means being nice and private online. You shouldn't cyberbully or tell people where you are because they can easily track you down. If you bully using any social network that is considered cyberbullying. For my meme I chose Willy Wonka and wrote:"Tell me what is a great digital citizen?" In this blog I am answering my meme. People just shouldn't post something they don't want the whole world to know. Because if you do anyone can see your personal stuff. Like your photos, sometimes where you live, all your private information.
ReplyDelete-Erin
I agree with you. They shouldn't be cyber bulling at all. Also you shouldn't be posting where you are going because anyone could be able to follow you. It's not the best idea. Private information should stay private.Great Blog.

ReplyDeleteI chose the Woody and Buzz meme because Woody's reaction was exactly of how I would react. I would be annoyed, angry, and confused. What are people's reasons for doing such things. They ruin other people's lives and their own as well. It does not benefit them in anyway. People's behavior nowadays surprises me. Back in the days, technology was a tool and made people's lives easier. Now, technology is making people's lives somewhat worse. In conclusion, most people are senseless online and so we should be responsible to change that.
ReplyDeleteIn my meme it said “Just because you don’t see it does not mean it is not there”. What I am trying to tell you by this is, before you post, text or do anything concerning the social media think twice before you do it. After you hit that send button and then you have a bad feeling about what you did, it is too late. You can’t do anything to get it off. Sure you can say “Ya, but I can always delete it” no it does not work that way. In our elementary we learned that you on your computer we have access to about 10 years back of history and on your IPod, phone or something it is even worse. This means something you text to someone in high school it will be there all the way until you finish university. So think before you do something on the internet. Do you feel it is inappropriate, that can hurt someone’s feeling or that can make someone feel uncomfortable if you do then stop right there and don’t do what you were about to post or text. Do not forget many bosses pay an employee to check a new candidate’s social profile since social media is a big part of our lives now days, so a bad choice you make now can affect you in the future when trying to find a job.

I chose a meme that I thought really suited this subject. It is a picture of Obama pointing his finger which is perfect for what I wrote. This picture was really good because Obama is someone that could have had bad stuff happened to them online. In the meme he is saying “Never post bad pics of me again… Or else… I think that that is a good example of some of the terrible things that people do online.
ReplyDeleteAdrian Szekely
The reason why I decided to talk about cyberbullying in the meme it is because it is the most important thing people get bullied at school and the internet that is just not right. If you get in trouble and someone catches you serious consiquences will happen.

ReplyDeleteBeing a good digital citizen means being careful with what you say and do online. posting things like your location or your job can attract robbers or hackers can learn everything about you. Just because you're somewhere and the other person is thousands of miles away from you, that doesn't mean you're invisible, you still have to be careful with what you say. Would you really want people knowing every detail about you and your family, probably not.
Being a good digital citizen is when you are online and you post things but they are not mean or anything they are just normal. When you are not a good digital citizen is when you make fun of people online or even if its something personal online. Some hackers even if the user is private is able to hack into it and see all of your personal things. As I always say people have there ways. You shouldn't ever say where you live online. Also don't ever cyberbully. Some people later on in life want to see if you are a good person or not for jobs.

I chose the meme of Heath Ledger also known as the Joker in Batman. I chose this meme because it was written all over his face what I was going to say. On my meme I wrote “WHAT ARE YOU DOING? YOU KNOW YOU CAN’T DELETE IT. This picture expresses exactly what I would have said because he looks like he’s frustrated. Someone is probably not listening to him. Even if you delete this information it is always going to be there. Also it will be hard to find a job because they look at all of your accounts to make sure you don’t post anything inappropriate. I liked this meme because it is funny. It is important to be a good digital citizen in life.
ReplyDeleteFor my meme, I chose the one with the man face-palming himself because his kid posted something inappropriate on the Internet. The message that I am trying to send by showing you this meme is that if you post something on the Internet, everybody can see it, even your parents. In fact, they are probably going to be the most embarrassed because people might start questioning them if they raises their own son/daughter to be a good digital citizen. I liked this meme because it has a message to it and many teens are going through it right now
DeleteBeing a good digital citizen means knowing what you’re going to say is going to stay out in cyber space forever and that you can never take those words back. If you’re going to say mean things about someone on the internet just know that it will stay out there for forever and you will never be able to retake those words. If you are trying to find a job, that may be a little tricky for you because they check everything that you post on the internet to check if they will let you work for them. In general it is important to be a good digital citizen because no one wants to be friends with someone who is mean. Always check if what you are going to say will affect the person you are sending your message to. If you think the person will get upset DO NOT post it! They have feelings too and I don’t really think they’d like it if you hurt their feelings.
ReplyDeleteAbby
In my meme I was trying to say that when you put something online you can't delete it, it's always there. If you put something online you should be careful what you put online. I consider before you put something online you should ask an adult to see if it is appropriate. If you put something you regret to put online it could affect you being an online citizen. I think being aware of what you put online is a really important part of being a digital citizen.
