Blog 52 - Monday, May 11, 2015

There will only be ONE (1) blog this week!

Aside from the obvious: CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS, MARCH BREAK, SUMMER HOLIDAYS, PED. DAYS, LONG WEEKENDS, 2:25, RECESS and LUNCH - tell me about something you enjoyed this school year.  Was there a class, a project, an activity or something you enjoyed?

Explain.

  1. Something that I liked out of this whole year was the activities that the school provided us with, for example the carnival, school trips and many more. I enjoyed the school activities because I found that the school trips were educational and something to enjoy as well, the carnivals are something that has everyone having a blast and enjoying the last few periods, and the rest has just as much equality as all the others.

  2. An assignment that I will never forget was our english cake project. In all my years of education, I've never received a project where I was suppose to bake. I was very surprised but yet excited. This was the time go put my baking skills to the test! In the end the project went very nicely, my partner and I made a beautiful cake and it tasted delightful. I was very pleased with all I've accomplished in this project, and I am proud with the outcome. I will definitely remember this assignment, and all the wonderful things I've learnt while in the process.

  3. I loved the Carnival! I thought the activities, the dance, the dunk tank were all amazing! I especially loved the pie in the face to al the teachers. At the carnival I raced against Ms. Green and beat her *Cough*. I found that the fireworks and the game on outside were awesome! I couldn't believe that there were real fireworks at the dance. Hopefully next year will be as fun or more fun than this year!

  4. One thing that I liked this year was pride week. I liked it because the whole week was filled with activities that I liked like jersey day, bake sale and much more. And to top it all off, there was a dance at the end of the week. Another was carnival week. I guess I really liked the weeks dedicated to stuff. It's cool to see what the leadership students can think of and come up with. I hope they continue to do this because it makes my experience at St-Thomas way better.

  5. Projects are something that always please me and this year, all of them never seemed to bother me! I love projects when they have to do with artistic-ness, unique subjects and of course FOOD! I really enjoy creating art pieces and showing off some of my artistic talent. Making posters and brochures are some of my specialties. I also really love projects where I get to talk about myself or other things that I love of make me happy. I could honestly talk about myself for hours on end. I will always be able to find something new to tell you whether you find it so fascinating or you couldn't care any less. Talking about things I love also pleases me! It's fun to give people an incite on me outside of my school life. Food is just food and it is amazing in many ways. You can really tell a persons personality from what they cook or bake. It's fun to see what other people think of and how they turn their thoughts into one marvellous creation! There are so many other things that I have enjoyed this year and will never forget it! This is the best school year ever...

  6. To start off, there was practically nothing that I did this year that didn't interest me! From the moment I stepped into this school I was sure that my high school years were going to be fun! I enjoyed so many activities this year and a lot of projects as well. One of my favourite projects this year was the cake project. I liked it because it allowed me to get to know one of my classmates while baking! An activity I really enjoyed this year was carnival day! I thought it was a blast. On carnival day there wasn't a second I was bored. I really enjoyed all the events that took place on carnival day such as "Pie in the face". I find these activities brings the whole school together and thats why St-Thomas has so much school spirit. I'm really glad of the outcome of this school year!

  7. St. Thomas does so many fantastic activities and events, but my favorite was when we did the fun weeks/ days. I thought it was really cool to see what everyone wore on different days. It was really cool to see everyone dress up as different things, in really unique costumes. It was also funny to see student’s ugly Christmas sweaters. Personally I don’t actually think their ugly and I like how it brings out the holiday spirit! It was also cool when people wore their favorite sports team jerseys. That’s when we saw who were cheering for certain sport teams. Though my favorite was by far pajama day! Who doesn’t enjoy pajamas, like seriously their sooo comfy and to have a day dedicated to just pajamas is a big plus! If I had the chance to, I’d probably buy all the pajamas in the world and make them fill my entire closet! Overall St. Thomas is amazing and does super cool activities that I’m glad I can be a part of.

  8. Since I've really only had one fieldtrip I can't say I enjoyed them this year, but the extra curricular sports and the events that St. Thomas has are so much fun. I only joined one sport this year but it was so much fun and I made some incredible friends. And the events like Carnival (Swerve Week), Halloween and even the dances, even if I've only been to 1, are amazing. I enjoyed some of the project I did this year too. Like some of the Spanish orals (yes I actually like Spanish!,*), the cake project, one or two of my ethics projects were enjoyable (*sometimes ethics too!). All in all I've had a great year and so many new memories to share.

  9. St. Thomas hosts the best events. I enjoyed every second of them because they were so enjoyable. They always do something that everyone likes. The best way to end swerve week was with the Carnival and the last dance. Out of the entire school year my favorite part was the last dance. The dance was just amazing. I had so much fun and everyone around me looked like they were having fun. The best part of the dance for me was the fireworks. They were spectacular and just beautiful to look at. Every event at St. Thomas was awesome and the memories will be cherished forever. Overall, my first year was great and I will always remember all of it.

  10. The activity that I enjoyed the most was Carnival day. I loved the carnival day, I will remember it for the rest of high school, it happens every year but I think I will still remember my first time. Throwing water bottles at each other and getting soaked, going in all the bouncy houses, food, throwing pie at my french teacher (Mr Geraud). And a lot of the activities were free as well. It was very fun and I think it will be something that I enjoy most years. We also missed half the day so that was very good too.

  11. I liked a lot of thing that I have done this year but the one that stands out the most is the Carnival. I found it a great experience. I had a lot of fun putting water down my friends back but I was lucky enough to not get any water down my own back, the bouncy rides and getting to watch Mr. Katz get pied in the face. I made sure that I was there for that. I liked the bouncy ride that you had to run up the ride put this Velcro thing on to the other Velcro thing as far as you can and then you got pulled back. When I was pulled back the first time I didn't know that it puled back very hard and I flew all the way back and almost did a flip. I also appreciated that the people selling the drinks put the drinks in the ice so they weren't warm because I hate warm drinks. Another thing that I really liked and I'm sure other guys liked is that we missed half a day of school. Overall that was my best experience in my first year at St. Thomas

  12. Something I liked this school year was the school hockey team. We were really good! We won the championship. It was good also because I made a bunch of new friends and I had a lot of fun. Right now I'm playing flag football, that is really fun also. I am on the defensive line. I like defense better.

  13. My favorite thing this year was the cake project. It was really fun. I kind of already knew that we were going to do a cake project in the beginning of the year because my friends in sec.2 told me, but I did not think that it would be as fun as it was because I am really bad at baking. Thankfully, I was paired up with someone who came from a baking family and had two other sisters to help out. I had a lot of fun making the cake and it ended up being delicious, so I guess my baking skills weren't that bad.

  14. I’ve had a lot of fun my first year at saint thomas with the activities, music concerts and "wonderful" projects but the thing that I think I loved the most so far this year was Carnival Day. I loved all the games and activities to do. Popping balloons, throwing pie in my teacher's face and jumping around in the giant inflatable things was all a lot of fun. It was also a really nice to get outside rather than sit in class for the next hour and a half.

  15. I don’t think that I DIDN’T not enjoy anything this year since everything has been amazing! Even though there were (and still are) a ton of school work, this year has still been awesome! Something I really really really enjoyed this year was english class! Mr.Katz, you definitely assign the best projects and assignments without a doubt! All the things that I thought were going to be boring in english class, turned to be the exact opposite of my thoughts! English class will probably be one of my top 3 favourite classes since you were the teacher! The different activities, homework and projects you assigned for us were always really enjoyable and you actually made school fun! You spoiled us and you gave us so many different opportunities to experience! Like, when we did the Skype call with Kenneth Oppel and the UN thingy! Our class is super lucky to have you as a teacher! Thank you for giving us such a wonderful school year mr.Katz! You definitely made this school year, a year to remember!

  16. The coolest thing about high school is how unexpected it is. Movies and TV tell us how scary it is and my parents always said that it has a lot more work but that is not true. We didn’t have that much work and the prefect were fun, unlike the boring elementary ones. All the classes were much more fun and less boring. In elementary school I was falling asleep in history class but know I’m actually listening and understanding. There has also been a crazy amount of school activities like themed week. I think that the best was carnival day and I can’t wait till next year’s.

  17. High school has brought me happiness like I have never experienced before from somewhere I did not expect it from. I thought high school was going to be horrible. I was so stressed that the first two or three weeks I threw up almost every single morning and gaged all the time. But all that stress has payed off in this worderful new experience. I really enjoyed english, math, science, and french class this year. These are the classes I am most open in. I laughed alot and I made a few friends in these classes. However, in classes such as history, spanish and gym, I am so different. I am so reserved and seem to be so innocent. The freedom provided, I find, was amazing! I love it how they let you do almost anything, however, when it gets to a certain point, there are consequences. This teaches you how you should watch your limits. I forget what it is called, but I really enjoyed the day where people could go outside or to the auditorium or other things. It was an activity that happened in the winter, however it was so much fun! I chose the auditorium to watch Guardians of the Galaxy. It was amazing and a little annoying because people kept on "woohoo"ing and clappin almost every two minutes! I was different though, because I was part of that mob once or twice! Carnival day was amazing. The only concern is that we all expected time to fly because we were having fun. Even though, we were enjoying our time, when we checked our watches expecting the time to be 2:00, it was only 1:15! I found the time a little long. I mostly enjoyed almost all projects except for ethics', even though I like the class. The english projects and expectations were appropriate however, some classes' expectations, I found, were so messed up! For example, in one class we are expected to colour things (not art), and if we do not do so we will lose marks!! Anyways, over all this year brought me experience, and great knowledge because now, I know the different types of people there are in this world and how to cooperate with them when you see them almost every single day!

  18. I don’t know where to start off in saying what I liked in this school year. There is just way too much but I will try my best to tell you my top favourite activities. My two favourite projects of this year was the cake project in English class and the movie project in French class. To be honest at first I hated the cake project when it was assigned to us but then it started becoming really fun and different. The best part in this presentation was presenting the cakes and then obviously eating them. My second favourite project was a project we did in French class where we had to make a short two minute movie regarding a story from the history. It was really fun and funny while filming it. I never did a project like this before and it was a great experience. Lastly an activity which I really enjoyed was the B.B.Q DAY at the beginning of the year with all and only the secondary one. It was great I made a whole lot more friends on that day. There was a bunch of new games which all required teamwork which made it really fun.

One class that I am absolutely always excited for is Phys. Ed. It's so much fun! I love it because every class are always active and playing sports (I love sports). My favorite classes are when we play dodge ball or go outside. I am a very competitive person and during dodge ball I will call out people when they get hit with the ball. I try my best to throw the ball at everyone so that I am not always trying to get the same person out (usually, aha). I think what makes my class fun is everyone in it. Most of my classmates are fun to play sports with, since they are also quite competitive. I am so excited for tomorrow, since I have Phys. Ed. class... ☺

  20. My favorite part would be Carnival day. It was really fun. I did not think it would be that big and fun. There were so many things to do. There was something for everyone no matter what your interested in. I mostly enjoyed participating in the activities with my friends. I was not able to go to the dance but carnival day was enough. It was so amazing I really hope that they do it next year.

  21. My favorite activities in the school year was probably carnival day or the cake project. I like the carnival day because there was so much fun things to do. The carnival day was nothing like what I did at my elementary schools. I liked the cake project because you got to eat and make a cake. Then you tried everyone's cake. I really found the project fun and unique to any other projects. carnival day was great the was amazing food and bouncy houses. Those were probably my favorite activities in school. So far my experience at St. Thomas was amazing.

  22. I really enjoyed doing the cake project. I know a lot of other students said the same but it's because it's such an awesome project! I have never done a project like that- more or less bake a cake! I really enjoyed that it was such a nice day to just relax and eat cake! There were so many different flavors to choose from!
My experience at St Thomas has been amazing and I cannot wait for the years to come!

  23. I really enjoyed the carnival and it was an especially great and special day for this event. Every activity that was there that I did was fantastic . The carnival day at my elementary school was always terrible and after being at the first of my 5 St. Thomas carnivals I will be even more eager in sec 2. My favorite part of it was when I got the chance to pie face teachers it was a great experience that I will never forget because this is a chance of a life time . That has been my favorite activity for St. Thomas this year 2015

  24. This year I enjoyed the freedom of high school. In elementary school, you didn't have as many choices and options. Like for example, you are not forced to go outside at recess or lunch when its pouring rain, or if its freezing cold outside. In high school, the staff believes you to respect the rules. I also enjoyed how classed are only 50 minutes long, although 50 minutes can also be very long in some cases. With 50 minutes now teachers can't teach the same thing all day!
