How do you feel your first term went?

What are some of the positive points about this first term? What are some of the items you need to work on for the second and third terms? Explain.

  1. I really enjoyed the first term here at St-Thomas. My level of enjoyment did fluctuate during different parts of the term. Some days, I found myself stuck inside studying for hours when others I had more time to hang out with my friends. I'd like to improve on my organisation skills in the next term as I think it will help me succeed further. I cant wait to continue here at St-Thomas

  2. I think overall I did well in term 1, I might of had struggles now and then, but I think I did ok. I think next term I could do better, sometimes I have doubts and I get scared if I don’t do good, but I’m usually positive about it and I try to think that I did good and that I tried my best and that’s all that matters.

  3. I think my first term went well. I felt like I had put a lot of effort and it payed off. All of my main subjects were in French last year so I really had to focus. I pretty much had relearn my Math vocabulary. I'm pretty relived that I didn't have that many presentations but I really need to plan my presentations better and pick the right people because in my Spanish project I was with someone who was never able to work with me. Overall I had a good term and I'm ready to go through term 2.

  4. I have had an awesome first term! It has been so fun to meet my teachers and I have made so many new friends! I really gave it my all and hope that all my hard work pays off! I am really happy with my test results especially my whopping 65% in history (LOL)! But I guess one test out of like 100000000000 (okay maybe not that much but you should understand it you have Mr. Desrochers) wouldn't hurt. But now, I'm REALLY starting my miss my days in elementary because I certainly don't miss the no homework! My weekends are gone but I guess I'd rather spend my time on homework and getting good grades then wasting my time and leaving all my homework to the last minute (I do that A LOT!!! Thank god for the library!).

    1. LOL. I procrastinate sooooo much it's unbelievable!! Yeah I understand how we get so much test in history and I got a few with bad marks too.....hehe twinsies. It was really fun reading your blog because I can relate so much AMAZING JOB!

  5. I think I did a good job in term 1. There is a big difference between elementary school and high school and I think I adjusted really well. Every day before leaving my house I always check my bag to make sure I have all my work and to make sure I'm not forgetting something, because we've all had that feeling where we think we forgot something. Sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed with homework and tests but I try my best to never leave it to the last minute and to get it done right away. I think I can improve on taking down more notes during class so it can make studying more easy.

    1. That's awesome! It's great to know you don't save things to the last minute and you do them when you first get them! I should start doing that to! It's also great that you always check your bag before you go! Double checking is always better then doing it once! I totally agree with you for how taking down more notes would make life SO MUCH EASIER! Your basically giving me such good advice Maya, fantastic job! Overwhelmed by tests and homework is so true! Don't you kind of like the feeling though? Or am I just that strange? Anyway, I think that your blog was perfect advice for anyone who needs counselling! I sure did, and your blog just helped me so MUCH!!!! Keep up the good work but what am I saying? Maya ALWAYS does a good job, she doesn't need me to say that! *Knock on wood* Hahaha, okay. Well I think your blog should be put onto the smart board so everyone can read it! Your blog = MARVELOUS!

  6. I think I did pretty well for this term, considering how it was such a big jump from elementary to high school. Of course I've had my ups and downs and I will try to improve on them for the next two terms. A couple of times I forgot my books in my locker or at home. So for sure my goal is to be more organized! Especially since it's my first year in high school, I want to start the first two terms with a great new fresh start!

  7. So far this term has been really fun. I've got all the best teachers and my grades are pretty good from the results I've gotten. It still a lit much though I mean nothing can really prepare you for high school unless you've had this work load since very young. This term has opened my eyes to what the rest of high school will be like or at least the base of what it will be like. For sure it has snapped me into better study habits so there is a bonus.

    1. Good for you! I am pretty sure it opened many people's eyes to what high school is! Especially the eyes of those who did not do so well! Good luck for the next term.

  8. This term has been very fun. I got to meet my new teachers, and friends. High school is very different to elementry school. This term has been going very well so far, and i hope that the rest of the terms can be like this one too. All of my teachers are amazing. I have had a lot of fun (except when it comes to tests). High school has actually not been as hard as i thought it would be. This term was very fun, but sadly they will probably not all be very fun. I feel like I worked very hard on my tests and school work. Over all this term has been very good for me!

  9. So far this term/first few months of school have been good. I have met so much new people so far and made so much new friends. I basically won the lottery with my teachers I got because most of the time I barely even have 1 hour of homework. Meanwhile most of my friends are getting loaded with homework and projects, then theres me getting very little(LOL)! My first term in high school has been good, I've worked hard in all my classes and I will work even harder next term for those better grades for a better future

  10. Term one has been amazing! I like high school way more than elementary school. It is more exciting and I have more freedom. It is so much fun. I tried to do my best in every class this term. Their were times when I was so overwelmed with homework and tests. But I had some great times also. I will try to be a bit more organized next term, I was pretty organized this term but I still forgot a few things. I will try to remember the things that I usually forget. Like bringing home certain books, remembering to bring my textbooks to classes etc. But I had a really fun and exciting term. I hope my next terms will be okay also!

  11. Well, I don't actually know how this first term went for me. I think I did okay however I still think that I could've done a better job! I'm still really nervous for report cards and my grades cause I really want to be remembered that, in the first term, Emily was a GREAT student. Still, I know I could've done a better job. I have so many faults about all my grades and things. Like how I could've payed more attention, not procrastinate, study harder, study ahead of a week before a test.... Basically, I'll most likely not learn from my mistakes for term two and three, since well, I'm a bad student. From all those awful qualities I just named, gosh, who wouldn't think that I'm an awful student? Sometimes, we all get stressed out on homework and tests yet this is bound to happen sometimes in our lives! Anyway, I was straying yet I think I could've done better on A LOT of things. Some positive things for term one is that, my friends helped me with homework! Sometimes, I would get confused and procrastinate and then I would get my friends to help me! Now, don't look at me as if I'm a bad student (cause I already know I am) and point your finger at me. We know you do that too (just kidding)! Anyway, another positive thing from the first term is that, everyone is super nice! From all our classmates and teachers to even our locker neighbours! Everyone just makes you feel as if you belong there! And I'm not just being positive, I'm saying and telling the truth! I just L~O~V~E how everyone talks to each other and it's just that, everyone is just super extremely magnificently magically NICE AND SWEET!!!! By the way I'm not exaggerating, this is from my experience so far! All I’m saying about the positivities is that, everyone is sweet like sugar plums and fairies! Everyone in our class is AWESOME and I couldn’t have wished for a better english teacher or sweeter classmates! I think I need to work on, umm, well I don’t know… Just JOKING! I now I need to work on EVERY SINGLE THING! No other way to tell you guys, just going to be blunt! Can’t beat around the bush when you know you aren’t perfect! I don’t even know if any of this stuff makes sense! Anyway, what I’m saying is that all I have to do for next term is to be prepared, learn from my mistakes and ESPECIALLY work even harder!

  12. Term 1 was pretty good. Obviously it needed some getting used to at the beginning of the year, but the rest was good. I've been getting good marks, some really good others not as much but still good. I have had days where I was doing homework all night long, but that was mostly at the beginning of the year, I find I don't get as much now and have more time. One of the highlights in term 1 was when I found out I made the school hockey team, it was exciting. I actually had my first game tonight, we lost 6-4 against College Notre-Dame, I scored 1 goal.

Maybe things I could try to improve are studying a little bit harder( I already study but maybe I could try a little harder), but overall first term was really good!

  13. I think term one was pretty good. However, I really should stop talking in class because I really think that it is going to have a bad effect on my marks and I am really scared. Especially in French, if you ask my friends, they will tell you what happens in that class. I really have to calm down! I get told to be quiet so many times, it is scary. In the other classes I am sure I did good enough, however, I am still worried. I really wish there was no such thing as report cards or terms. I also have to organize my locker so that I have enough space as possible for the winter. In conclusion, I think term one went well and that I have a lot of things to improve if I want to survive through high school.

    1. Wow! Rushmi I remember even in kindergarten you use to tell me " Man I need to stop talking I get in a lot of troubles!" you haven't changed a bit. Don't worry you'll survive it is not that bad how you always talk

  14. I think my first term of high school went pretty well. My marks have had some ups and downs, (especially my first quizzes!) but overall my grades are fine from what I know. I find that from elementary school, high school is a huge difference. Switching classes is fun because if one teacher doesn’t like you, at least you don’t have him/her for all your subjects! I think I do need to work on organizing my time better. I used to leave my homework ‘till the night before it’s due! (oh wait I’m doing it again!) But I do believe that my schedule is working great now. I’ve made a plan and I am making a goal for myself to complete it.

    1. I know exactly how you are feeling. I've also had some ups and downs. I think elementary school and high school are completely different because I only had two teachers back in elementary. It's great that you an organized person. Great Job on your blog!

  16. I am pretty sure term one went exceptionally. I am proud of all of my accomplishments in all of my classes. This term was great because when I studied hard, I always did great on my tests. Everyone gets one or two bad marks in every term. We are all human! There was one class that I did not so well in but I’m aiming to improve on, I know I could do better! We all have those bad days where we don’t do so well on our evaluations or exams. I am very proud of all of the work that I have done in class. For me, if I study, I will always succeed to what I put my mind to. I think I did very well in term one but I am aiming to go above and beyond.

  17. I cannot believe that I am done my first term secondary one. Last year I was thinking "Wow! How am I ever going to make it to high school?". Today I am almost halfway through my year. It went by quick, I still feel like it is the first week of school. I barely know anyone's name but it went by smooth term one. I am not too satisfied with my work I am definitely going to try harder but I think it is normal. I had a lot of tests. In elementary I had more homework but in high school I feel like there are more tests. Overall I I liked term one it was an easy going term.

This term was pretty well for me. Some classes I love and some classes I really don't like. Let's start of with math, math has always been one of my favorite subjects, so I think I've been doing pretty good in that. Science, I've been doing better in science, well now I actually really like it and it's so much fun. I think french has been pretty easy so far in this term, we've been doing a lot of writing and I think I've been doing really good. English, in enlish we obviously do a lot of writing, writing is good for me, but not always, I have the habit of writing faster than I think so as I write I forget to write down many (as my grade six teacher said). History, next term I definitely need to study, more for tests, all my tests this year were really good, except for the last two that I got back. Spanish has been going very well this term, I think I've done very good in all the things we did, I was so nervous for my oral, but I ended up doing awesome on it. Overall I think I did well for this term.

  19. This term was pretty good when it came to my marks, but went really well when it came to my friends. I really enjoyed this term and it went really well for me. My best subject was probably history because I never got under a 98 in that class and math because I had an awesome teacher. The worst mark probably in this term was English, but that still doesn't make it my least favorite subject. For Science, I think I did well but it wasn't my strongest subject, and I think I did really well in French and Spanish. I think my report card will be good.

  20. This term was a one of a kind there where up and downs . It was crazy, I love many subjects but the ones that I don't like are science and history. History what do I start with it is so hard, and we are learning all these things so fast. Science I am new to it because we didn't really learn anything at Margaret manson so its really hard for me. But on the other math omg I don't know why but I am so good this year my average is 97% on test like what. I am always so nervous because I have so much work and my house is always busy.

  21. For me this term had its ups and downs but it was still a pretty good term. I liked this term because if it wasn’t for this term I wouldn’t have met all my new, awesome friends and teachers! My least favourite part about this term was definitely all the test. I had so many just this week! Thanks end of term -.- . This term has been more fun than horrible. I hope that next term will be just as good as this one or maybe even better!

  22. My first term in high school was amazing. There was lots of positives things about this term like I am excited to see my report card because I was working hard for my marks and I want to see if my hard work paid off. I am also excited for next term to improve my work. My goal for this term is to get on the honor roll. I also need to improve on my organization for the next term. For the next terms I always want to see my marks improve every term. For the next term I would like to get a 90 or over on my total average. I would like to also say I had an amazing first term at St. Thomas and I am looking for another great term at St. Thomas.

  23. I think that my first term went pretty well. There some good things that happened, but I also made a few mistakes in the past couple months. The positive things that I have managed to do are; make good friends, always do my best and get good marks. The things I have to improve on the most are studying more for my tests and not procrastinating. I have always been a big procrastinator and there not much I could do about it, but the truth is normally I find I work better when I do stuff last minute. In conclusion, in this term I have made a few mistakes that I will try to fix in term 2, but I have also accomplished a lot of thing which I will continue to do.

  24. I think my first term went okay. It was kind of a shock to me how much high school is different than elementary school. I didn't find this term a very big challenge just like every other grade its a bit harder than the previous. I think that I should stop waiting to do projects or homework and I should do them early. I am nervous for my report card but I think I did alright. Next term I want to start doing my homework right when I get it because I don't want to keep bad habits!
